Afapinen represents a space of literary discourse that is serious-minded and grounded in criticality. It is also a space for language to thrive and illuminate our minds in the choices of what we publish.

There is a current atrophy of mainstream literary and art criticism in Nigeria and our work is to curate the much-needed quality journalism that averts this.

We don’t agree with objectivity because it breeds passive language that says nothing. Every writer or scholar writes from their peculiar schooling and experience to birth a diversely relatable erudition which we aim to be our touchstone.
